Oprah is one of the famous actresses in the world. Ever since she had first aired her first show she had been a hit. Fans fell in love with her lovable personality and wits. But then that begs the questions who is Oprah Winfrey?

Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 and was born into poverty in Mississippi to a young single mom. As Oprah turned 14 she suffered from a miscarriage and moved in with her father, Vernon Winfrey, in Tennessee.

In high school Oprah had gotten a job at a radio station then at 19 she was the co-anchor for a local evening news.

Since Oprah was often emotional from her miscarriage she quit her job and became a day time talk show show. Then she made her own company,from there on out she became more and more popular in the media.  In 1994 she was welcomed in the National Women’s Hall of fame for letting unpopular demographics onto her show.

In 2008 Oprah became a political force and helped Barack Obama get a million votes. In 2013 Oprah was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. And now Oprah still has many shows Dr. Phil, Super Soul Sunday, Green leaf and many others.

The flute is a very beautiful sounding instrument. Its sound is high and soothing. Flutes are woodwinds instruments along with Clarinet, Piccolo, Oboe, English Horn, E flat Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, and Contrabassoon. All these instruments used to be made out of wood, so now they are called woodwinds. I play the flute, and it’s not easy.  you have to balance the air to have half go in and have half go over the hole.They come in three pieces you put together to play.

You may be wondering what flutes are made out of. Flutes for students are usually made out of nickel plated copper. Open hole or professional flutes are made with sterling silver or gold. The first flute was made in Slovenia, and the second made in Germany.

Theobald Boehm evolved the flute and finger system. No one knows who made the actual first flute. The name “flute” came from the Latin word “flare”, which means to flow. The most expensive flute is made from nickel. This flute isn’t alone, there are other types of flutes too. The end blown and the rim blown flutes are types of flutes and so is the Duct flute. Flutes are nice instruments, I enjoy it’s sound and maybe you will too!     

Snow Day by #molly20

My snow day starts by getting in my snow pants, big coat, hat, and gloves. Then my siblings and I go outside. The first thing that happened was since the ground was icy. I slipped and fell down the deck stairs and fell into the snow. It was really fun. Then my little siblings started to do the same thing like it was a game. It was really funny.

Then we went to the playground and down the slides. We were so fast because of all the ice on it especially my little brother because he’s the smallest. Then we went on the swings, and I swung really high. We jumped off and onto a really big pile of snow. My little siblings were too scared to do it, but they just jumped into the pile.

Then we did a contest. The contest was to see who can roll across the lawn the fastest. My older sister and I raced. She won. My little brother and little sister did it, and my sister won. Then the two winners had to race. My older sister went slow because my little sister is a lot smaller than she is also a lot younger. So my little sister won. The winner got the first cup of hot chocolate. I hope next year’s snow day is as much fun as this year’s one.

How to Make a Cake (joke) by #salvador14

Hello there! I want to tell you that I love cake! You probably do too! I know that sometimes it be too much cake, but with friends, you have cake for everyone! I thought about how cake is so good, and then thought that I can teach others to make it! Thinking of it, I created this blog! {[WARNING, THIS IS A JOKE SO DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!!]} So, let's get right into the recipe! First, go to a wheat field, and take multiple pieces of wheat. Second, go home and grind it up and make flour. Third, put water and yeast in and promptly drop it on the floor! Step on the dough until everything is mixed in well. Now you add the eggs, milk, and, butter. Put it in a cake pan for best results. Then, put 1 hour on the oven timer. Then melt your oven using the molten tantalum carbide that you stole from a science lab. Fourth, get your dough and put it in the oven. Then start pouring the rest of the tantalum carbide on. Finally, when the timer beeps, take out the cake and decorate it with whatever you want! Finally, take the cake and throw it in the trash! (Tip; buy a new oven after making this recipe) Once you follow those steps, you will have melted your oven, and made a cake that is burnt to a crisp! See you guys and girls at my next blog! Animal Shelter by #parker12

This week we started looking for a cat! We wanted a pet for a long time, and now we are getting one. The first time we went to the animal shelter we were looking at a cat named Graystoke, but when she meet my baby sister the cat was afraid of her. We looked at other cats, but the other ones just didn’t seem right. For example we saw two cats that hissed at us whenever we got near them. There was another cat that didn’t like kids, so that cat wasn’t right either. But then we found two cats that seemed friendly and playful, but we couldn't see them until the vet came.

A couple days later…

2-3 days later we went to the shelter and met a cat named Joe. Joe is playful, nice, and likes my baby sister. My family and I really liked Joe and wanted to adopt him. We got a feathery fish toy and a mouse toy to play with. He loved the toys, and we got to pet him and play with him a lot. I hope we get Joe the cat. I think he is the perfect cat for me and my family. I really, really hope our family adopts him and gets a pet to call our own.

February Vacation by #homam5

On a normal school day I wake up at 7:00 AM. On a weekend or vacation I wake up at 6:00 AM, which is early and play on my Xbox. My family comes downstairs. We have breakfast, but the family doesn’t have breakfast all together now because my dad does construction work and my mom is a teacher for Arabic school. Each weekend is different. Sometimes we go somewhere. Sometimes we don't. My sister asks me to play in the basement. That's where we have toys to play with while the adults watch TV. If we are going to go somewhere my mom tells us where we are going. On vacation we went to my cousin’s house, and we brought our Nintendo Switch. That is why my brother saved up our money to buy it, and it was a lot of money.

We brought our games, the switch, and the dock. My family ate, and we kids played. My family went to the mall. It was fun. My mom was so nice. She got me a Nintendo Switch game! I was so happy I couldn't wait to play it. I loved February vacation so much. I had a blast!

Chapter 1 Anna

Hi I’m Anna, and I guess you’re my new journal. No offense but I never really thought I would ever want to write in a journal. My friends convinced me to start though. I mean they didn’t exactly convince me, but that’s besides the point.

Anyway I spent all of my allowance on you, so you better be worth it.

So why am I writing? I don’t know. Actually I do know, but I don’t want to admit it. All of my friends are changing.They act so mature and are so girly now. Not only that but they also have become interested in things like going to the nail salon, doing makeup, and keeping up with celebrity lives. To me all of that seems boring.

Unfortunately that’s what every girl does at my age. Except one, her name is Paige. Paige moved to Alemfield about three years ago. We’ve been best friends ever since. I like her because she has the same problem as me. Paige and I like sports, movies, and that kind of stuff.  Ever since my other friends turned twelve they feel so grown up so, they act that way. I’m still eleven and so is Paige so we usually get left behind. That’s why it’s so important we stick together. We need to dominate this year together!

Wow. I just wrote a whole page in my journal and didn’t get to my point. Any ways what all that helped me explain is I don’t want to change myself for the other girls. So I bought you, journal because that’s what the other girls are doing now. I guess it’s fun to try new things out anyways. Right?! Oh! Bye journal Paige is calling. By the way thanks for hanging in there on my first day of writing!

Ice Castles by #ava22

Well hello my fellow eskimos!!!! I have recently gone to the ice castles in New Hampshire!   I went on Saturday the twenty third of February, and we left on Sunday the twenty fourth. It was so cold there!!!!!

If you ever want to go there here are some things you might  want to bring.

1. You should definitely bring boots [ Reason: It is a lot of snow you are walking in. If you bring sneakers they will get soaked. And also you need the thickness of the rubber.]
2. You will need gloves[Reason: Your hands will get very cold from the ice and snow and also the cold and dry air.]
3. You can bring a scarf optional[Reason: You can keep your mouth or your face protected PS: It also smells like poop because they have horse slay rides!!]
4. Obviously you will need you coat.[Reason: Well you know the reason.]
5. You can bring a hat if you want too.[Reason: You might not have a hood or you just want to bring it.]

The Ice Castles are really put you in awe. There are different creases or indents you can walk through, they made tunnels. There was one place in the Ice Castles where they made slides. It was so much fun.  The other slide I think could have been fixed because at the beginning you can fit in it. At the end it is ridged, and there are pieces of ice that were sanded down. However, not enough so it hurt your butt!!! And the slide also got smaller!! It was a tight squeeze! But I could handle it.

Then there was another solid that was really awesome!!! There was such a long line for it, but we went. Because it was worth it you go down in the rubber mat or whatever material it was. You sit on it, and there are handles on. It if you want to hold on you should. But I didn’t hold on. Because if you use an electronic  and video yourself going down they have a bunch of rainbow lights that are like the ocean, which is very awesome!!!

The Super Bowl by #jacob9

This Sunday I watched the Super Bowl. I watched it with my family. The teams that were in it were the New England Patriots vs the Las Angeles Rams. The stadium was where the Falcons play in Atlanta, Georgia. Tom Brady’s ninth time going to a Super Bowl was a success. The Patriots went to the Super Bowl eleven times. It is the Jared Goff's first time going to the Super Bowl. This is the Rams 4th time going to the Super Bowl. If Tom Brady won the Super Bowl this will be his sixth one winning. In the first quarter, and the score was 0-0. It was the second quarter, and the score was 3-0. Then it was halftime. My family thought the halftime show was bad. I think the rapper was swearing, and they cut that out. Then it was the third quarter, and the score was 3-3. The game was pretty boring. The fourth quarter was 10-3. Then it was 13-3. Before I knew it the game was over. The Patriots won the Super Bowl! It didn’t feel like we won the Super Bowl. Tom Brady was happy but not that happy because he won 5 other times. That is all I did when I watched the Super Bowl.

My favorite trips I've been on by #grant10

For this blog I am going to tell you my favorite trips I have been on. My fifth favorite was a tour bus that I went on with my parents to Washington D.C. because it just got boring learning about stuff after the first day. For example all we were doing was touring random places. My fourth favorite was going to Cape Cod in the summer. Even though Cape Cod is really fun, the other ones are just more fun. My third favorite  is Chicago because I get to visit family and friends there. I went there recently in January for a wedding. I go there in the summer or winter time. Lithuania is my second favorite because I have got lots of family and friends there too. My favorite place to visit is Atlantic City,New Jersey In the winter because it is for a tournament there. And the sport is futsal. It is like soccer just played on a basketball court or a well made court for futsal like in New Jersey. The type of shoes you wear are cleats just without the cleats on the bottom. If you win in New Jersey you go to Nationals this year in New Jersey again. Those were my favorite places i have been.

Seussical Jr. Play by #jack11

The play that I’m in is called Seussical Jr. For school, the performances are on March 12, 2019. The performances for public are March 15 & 16, 2019. I am the second biggest role in the play. My name is JoJo, and I’m the Mayor of Who’s son. I have eleven songs that I’m in. My hardest song to me is probably “People vs. Horton The Elephant part 2”. The one that I probably memorized the most was “It’s Possible part 1 & 2”. I need to practice my little line that I’m forgetting right before “ Monkey Around/Chasing The Who’s”. We’re not allowed in our costumes until our first show, so we don’t get them dirty or rip them. I’m the first one to come on stage, and then the cat appears out of a hat and we begin the opening number. The play is about Horton when he finds the Who’s, but the sour kangaroo doesn't believe and around the end she and almost all of the people that live in the jungle want to have the planet boiled in a hot steaming kettle of beezlenut oil. You should go to this play because it will be very fun and funny, hopefully you’ll come.

Country Bears: Show vs Movie by #luke6

If you’re a Disney nerd (like me) you probably know about the country bears. Whether it’s at Disney World (not Disneyland anymore) or on the big screen, you know they are an amazing country band. But both are very different. One of the big things is their looks. Click here to see their comparisons. One thing I noticed is that many of the bears got fatter, but not Big Al or Trixie. Like the quote in the movie “Those bears were fat long before it was spelt with a p-h.” I was confused about how in the movie there was only Henry, Big Al, Ted, Fred, Zeb, Tennessee, and Trixie. For some reason in the movie Tennessee and Trixie used to be in a relationship, but in the show they are definitely not in one. Also, in the movie Zeb’s son, Oscar would be about Beary’s age, and I think Zeb should have mentioned him in the film. Another thing is in the film, they’re not the Country Bears. They are more of the Country/ Rock/ Blues/ Classical Bears. So wouldn’t that make their place  Country/ Rock/ Blues/ Classical Bear Hall? Comment if you would take the tour of Country/ Rock/ Blues/ Classical Bear Hall. It looks like in the movie they made the place completely different. I know it can’t be exactly the same, but can they try just a little? I like how Big Al is always an attention hogger. In the show he tries to put all the focus on him. In the film he tries to get people's attention so they don’t ruin his grass. I like both of these performances though, and I recommend seeing one of them some time.

Everyone has fears. Even the most strongest person  you know. So in my blog today I am going to list some fears from greatest to least of how many people have this!

10. Mysophobia: The fear of germs or dirt  

9. Pteromerhanophobia: The fear of flying. It's kind of like they're scared of heights.

8. Social Phobias: The people with these fears have a fear of going and talking to people. So they usually can't go to social activities.

7. Trypophobia: The fear of injections/ getting flu shots. Most people have this because they are afraid that it is going to hurt a lot.

6. Astraphobia: The fear of thunder and lightning.and sometimes they're scared of snow. The people who have this fear are just scared of the sound or if  lighting is going to strike.

5. Cynophobia: Fear of dogs. This could lead to not going to a lot of family's houses.

4. Agoraphobia: The fear of situations that are difficult to escape from. So they have a fear not being able to move at all, which is pretty scary.

3. Acrophobia: The fear of heights.  A ton of people are afraid of heights, ton of people are way too scared to go on the second floor of a house.

2. Ophidiophobia: The fear of snakes. Tons of people have this one.   I think I have this one as well. Most people are scared of snakes because they are scared of the snake biting them.

1. Arachnophobia: The fear of spiders. Why are people scared of spiders is because they are scared that the spiders are going to bite them just like the snake, but most spiders are not able to bit you.

I chose softball for number one because it is a very fun sport. That got me into baseball. After softball I chose cheerleading because who doesn’t want to be with their friends after school, and I loved doing preps or cradles. I chose baseball for number three because I love baseball. I think it’s so fun! I love going to Red Sox games with my family. Number four is football! I love football. I think it’s so interesting. When I did cheerleading, we cheered for the Pop Warner team for football team. Number five is hockey. To be honest I don't really know how I started liking hockey. I just thought it looked fun. Next is wrestling. It’s like the hockey one I just started liking it. Olympic weightlifting, I thought this sport looked kind of hard. I saw it on an app and I just thought wow they must be strong! I don’t watch it though. Soccer I just think it looks fun I don't really watch it though. I think Volleyball is a good sport. It seems kind of competitive though. I chose gymnastics for a kind of low one because I have done that before, and it was kind of scary going on the bar. (That’s the thing you flip on). I think this Artistic swimming is kind of like cheerleading because you’re lifting people up. I just think tennis is kind of boring to me. I chose karate for the last one because I don’t really like karate (in my opinion). That’s my blog hope you like it!
