Hi my fellow softball players,
I have recently gone to a softball clinic. On Saturday 1/26/19 I went to a two hour clinic. It was for girls like me who want to get warmed up for softball season. I play rec softball that is in town and summer travel softball.
The first thing we did was listen to the coaches introduce themselves. Then we were divided up by age. Once in our group we were assigned stations. My group got batting first we had to our helmets and batting gloves and bat. At the batting station we learned how to work on our stance and follow through with our hitting. We learned the steps by numbers, so when he called one we moved our hips. when he called two we moved our arms and leaned on our back foot. Then on three we swung. We had to end looking at our tee, to see where we’re at.
Next we went to bunting and hitting. I got every ball when I was bunting. It felt so good to know I can still bunt. Then after you bunted you went to the hitting line. I even got every ball there too. Third we got in a line then you wait till your turn. Then the coach threw you a pop fly ball or a ground ball. Then we went to the open side. We did a square. It's where you catch the ball from your right. Then throw it to your left. It depends on where you are.
Then we were still in the square. The fire alarm went off because a little boy threw a baseball at the fire alarm by accident. So everyone evacuated the older kids like Julia, Dannie and myself with some other girls stayed in there. IT was so loud like a siren but much louder than eight hundred decibels it could ruin our hearing. But we still played. After we still heard the ringing in our ears.
The last thing we did was go to our favorite position and make a line. I picked first. So did other girls a coach hit the ball to third base and they threw it to first base. We threw it back to home. Then second base did the same thing until. The people on first base were the last ones. Then to the last people which was me and another person and I. We used small softballs. They were the size of a baseball. And YES we did catch them too.
